Estimate £300-500
The white boxwood side pieces are all in good condition except for two pawns, one with a section of the collar broken and re-stuck and the second with a small nick out of the collar. The black pieces have more issues with both of the knights having flaking to the varnish on the horses's torso and head and one with a chip loss to its right ear. One bishop has a small chip loss to the top collar, both rooks have open cracks to the side of the bases and one has two sections broken and re-stuck to the crenellation at the top. Three of the pawns have open cracks to the turned bases, one pawn has a large open crack which runs around part of the circumference of the base as well and a section of the collar missing. Two pawns have a section of the collar broken and re-stuck and the last of the pawns has a fine crack to the turned base. The box has old varnish which has discoloured and crackled to the exterior and has the odd chip and dent to the timber and a bit of paint spattered to one side. It also has a slight 'smile' where the top has bowed.
Neither kings are stamped.
