A Chinese famille rose enamelled tripod censer and cover, Qing dynasty, Jiaqing/Daoguang period, painted to each side with beautiful ladies in a garden, on a claret ground decorated with scrolling flowers and leaves, the pierced, domed cover painted with chilong amid lingzhi, surmounted by a lion finial, the neck and handles with lotus flowers on a turquoise ground, on three zoomorphic feet with gilt 'shou' characters, 27.5cm high, 25.3cm wide, restoration to handles and crack to neck

This archaic shape of vessel was also used for Imperial porcelain censers dating from the Qianlong to Daoguang period.

Both handles have been broken off with restoration to the breaks and some regilding on the sides, the lion finial is also restored with some restoration around the immediate area where he joins the cover, there is a few hairline cracks visible on the inside of the cover and there is a hairline crack extending around half the circumference of the inside of the neck which is partially visible on one side behind a handle, otherwise there is a slight firing crack to the unglazed base otherwise in reasonable condition.
