A rare Clichy millefleur double paperweight inkwell, 19th century, the 7.5cm diameter paperweight cover with central cabbage rose within a flower garland border on a scattered muslin ground, the pentagonal faceted magnum paperweight base decorated with flower garlands on a scattered muslin ground, gilt brass hinge and mount, total diameter 11cm, height 11cm

The cover appears to be in good condition, and has always definitely been a cover as it is concave on the interior, there are five faceted sides to the base of the inkwell, one of which has a tiny splinter chip to the lower edge with an associated internal fracture coming off it, and then the next facet around from it has a slight bruise to the lower edge which can be felt with a thumb nail also, then edge of a third facet has a shallow chip to the very edge which could easily be polished out, where to the base consistent with age otherwise in good condition.
The metal mount is not marked and it is definately original to the inkwell.
