Lot 383 , A Victorian silver triple cased keywind verge pocket watch made for the Turkish market, by Edward Prior, London,

A Victorian silver triple cased keywind verge pocket watch made for the Turkish market, by Edward Prior, London,

A Victorian silver triple cased keywind verge pocket watch made for the Turkish market, by Edward Prior, London, with gilt metal and tortoiseshell outer case, the signed movement with diamond set pierced cock and numbered 75507, housed in a mid 19th century Turkish silver domed case, with engraved foliate decoration.
Estimate £600-800

Watch case- Two lareg dents to the side of the case and one or two smaller dings to the case also. There are two small chips to the edge of the dial around 6 o'clock and there is also a hairline crack within the same area. Movement appears complete. The watch ticks when wound and then stops after a few seconds. We cannot guarantee any of the watches to be in working order. The next case is engraved. Unsure if it is silver as the paper on the interior appears to be stuck in situ. There are patches of discolouration on the back of the case which may be rust. The next case the tortioseshell is in good order with no visible chips or cracks. There are four studs missing from the perimeter of the case back and sixteen missing from the perimeter of the front section of the case. There are also a few minor chips to the tortoiseshell near the pendant recess.
The Turkish silver outer case has sevseral bumps and dings to the domed cover. The engraving is a little tired in places and there is evidence on the base that this case was once gilded. Probable replacement button plate on the interior of the case.
