Lot 561 , An early 20th century 17th century style brass lantern clock, 15.5in.
An early 20th century 17th century style brass lantern clock, with oak bracket, 15.5in.
Estimate £250-300
This looks to be an early 20th century copy of a 17th century clock, has come for sale from a deceased estate in Brighton.
Case is heavily discoloured partly with nicotine, partly with oxidisation, quality of the engraving and numerals to the dial is deliberately naive and looks rather crude, movement is complete but not tested for timekeeping or running, bracket looks to be a later associated version that is appropriate for the clock. Comes with a pendulum but no weights.
