An unusual Chinese export ivory card case, 19th century, the front carved in high relief with sea creatures on a wave pattern ground, the reverse with a figure carved basket supported by a bat, on a repeating 'wan' ground, 11.5cm., part of cover lacking

The cover is missing one end and is sharp around the area, there are general age cracks to the ivory all over and there are some slight losses to some of the seaweed tendrils between the fish.
