An unusual Pearlware pottery 'lion' plaque, c.1810, painted in Pratt-type colours with a standing lion, his head bowed towards the ground, within coloured borders surmounted by a ribbon cresting, the reverse inscribed 'HS' backwards, 20 x 19.8cm., one corner re-stuck

The upper right corner of the plaque has been broken and restuck with some slight splinter losses around the area and discoloured old glue, fine crazing to the glaze all over, the plaque is slightly concave when viewed sideways on, otherwise good.
