An unusual pair of late 18th century Orkney / Faroe Islands fruitwood chairs, of small stature and primitive peg joint construction, carved with Scottish figures dancing a reel and holding flintlock rifles, the stiles and seat rails with chipped carved decoration, one seat rail with scrolling geometric motifs, the other with human head finials, various minor differences

Both with two plank seats, that are opening up which is typical, evidence of old worm in places, slight warping to one seat which is typical, general marks and minor losses in places, overall generally average / reasonable condition, but quite unusual chairs.
