Lot 289 , A Meissen figure of the Good Housekeeper, late 19th century, 15.5cm, losses
A Meissen figure of the Good Housekeeper, late 19th century, modelled as an elegantly dressed seated lady clasping a Bible in her right hand, blue crossed swords mark, incised 2685, press number 43, 15.5cm, losses
Estimate £200-300
The figure group is missing the scrolling rococo table and therefore displays four patches of unglazed porcelain on the base and several on the side of the lady's costume where the table has come away. In addition to this, there are losses to the top right of the chair, one patch of unglazed porcelain measuring 10mm x 4mm, and a second measuring 11mm x 5mm, the utter-most edge of the purple cushion is missing something (a tassel?) and therefore displays a clean circular patch of unglazed porcelain (approx. 4mm radius). The right edge of the lady's blue costume is chipped . There are the usual occasional minor scratches to the glaze and minor firing imperfections, as well as age associated wear to the underside of the base.
