An archive including a pair of miniature portraits on ivory of Edward VII and Queen Alexandra in their coronation robes, in decorative gilt frames with Damask silk backing, 9cm high, together with two hand written letters relating to the family of Vita Sackville West; both relating to samples of cloth of gold used at the Russian coronation in 1896 and Edward VII’s Coronation in 1902, and both with reference to Knole, home of the Sackville West family, together with an empty fitted leather case for a coronation medal, gilt embossed with the crown and 1902, all contained in a Fortnum and Mason wooden box, and a handwritten letter from E.E. Dorling to Lady Sackville, mother of Vita Sackville West, dated 6 February 1916, The letter contains a reference to a visit to Knole and a sample of fabric relating to a design for a chair used at the coronation of George V. CITES Submission Reference 1LFDDM51. Condition - fair to good, repair needed to tops of both frames.
