A 19th century cross stitch sampler by Mariah Williams age 15 dated 1879, worked with an outer geometric border, with rows of various alphabet letters and numerals., the lower half with large spot motifs of flowers, trees and birds with a central cartouche of a boy sitting with his dog. 63cm wide x 56cm high. Condition - the colour of the wools are still strong and there is no damage to the embroidery, the backing has become brown with age and light and possibly being over a fireplace.
