° De La Beche, Sir Henry T. - The Geological Observer, 8vo, 846pp., numerous illustrations and maps in the text, rebound cloth, endpapers renewed, Longman, Brown, Green, and Longmans, London, 1851 Notes: La Beche was an English geologist and palaeontologist who pioneered early geological survey methods. He joined the Geological Society of London at the age of twenty-one and became an enthusiastic fossil collector and illustrator. Collaborating with William Conybeare, he co-authored a significant paper on ichthyosaur and plesiosaur anatomy, presented to the Society in 1821. Throughout his life, he remained one of the Society's most active and esteemed members, serving as its President in 1848 and 1849.
