A late 18th century green silk scalloped bordered lady’s apron border, ornately embroidered with gold metallic threads and polychrome silk, in a large vine, floral and leaf design, together with a similar cream silk embroidered apron from the same period and a fine hand spun linen floral silk embroidered Regency stole, green apron border 9cm wide x 49cm high

Condition:
The gauze embroidered stole has two large holes at the back of stole by neck, the rest in good condition, the embroidery is still strong in colour and condition. The green silk embroidered apron front is in very good condition, the silk is not Fender and all metallic and coloured silk embroidery unworn or faded, there are no visible stains, almost as new. The cream silk apron has a few stains to the cream silk near the bottom edge to the sides with two smaller darker spots. There is no tenderness to the silk and the embroidery is untouched or worn, overall condition good. Provenance: From the Crofts/Le Pla family. A London solicitor John Crofts married Ann Le Pla of a Huguenot family in 1731, they later lived at Malling House in Lewes (now Sussex police HQ), with a country estate in Sompting from 1754, and a home for the season in Parliament Square London
