A late 19th century French Louis XVI style inlaid mahogany and ormolu mounted credenza

A late 19th century French Louis XVI style inlaid mahogany and ormolu mounted credenza, of breakfront 'D' shaped form, with foliate motif frieze, centred with a panel of cherubs over a pair of marquetry inset panelled doors decorated with flowers and trophies, flanked by bowed glazed doors and divided by squared tapered columns, on toupie feet, width 170cm, depth 51cm, height 126cm.
This credenza was probably retailed by Holland & Sons, as it was purchased by the owner’s ancestor at the same time as the Anglo-Japanese corner cabinet in this sale.
£2,000-3,000

Condition:
Overall in honest untouched condition, the top with good reddish colour, some scuffs and scratches and small losses to the veneers, the ormolu mounts now rather matted and rather oxidised in places, main doors and sides of the piece are all faded now to a mid matt brown tone, central doors have original locking bar with key and enclose two original adjustable shelves, side doors equally with original locks and key and both enclosing two original adjustable shelves, wear around the feet, but overall a good piece.
