A pair of Chuval (Turkmen) rugs, 146 x 89cm These are known as ‘Chuval’, and are storage bags used inside the tribal yurt for storing items such as clothing and bedding. They stood up around the side of the yurt. This pair were made by the Saryk a sub-tribe of the Turkmen tribes and originate from southern Turkmenistan, circa 1900.
