Makuzu Kozan (1842-1916). An earthenware 'duck and lotus pond' vase, c.1880, applied with the figure of a duck swimming amid encrusted lotus flowers, leaves and two crabs on rocks, iron red two character signature within a double gourd to the scene, the base with impressed mark within a double gourd, 30.5cm high, small losses, base drilled

Condition:
Some staining to the fine crazing all over. At some stage the vase had been converted to a lamp with a drilled hole hole near the base, some remnants of glue around the inside of the neck which will remove. Losses to some of the flowers and leaves and to the legs of the two crabs seated on the rocks.
