A rare George II Galway octagonal silver waiter or small salver, with a moulded border, enclosing a contemporary armorial of a chevron between three squirrels sejant, beneath a demi griffin rampant, within a scrolling cartouche, the underside with marriage monograms W.S.M and a scratch weight of 11ozs., by Mark Fallon, Galway, circa 1730, 17.3cms, 10ozs.

Secular Galway silver is extremely rare, indeed the present piece, now offered, is thought to be only one of four secular pieces by Mark Fallon, the others being two mugs and a cruet frame.

Minor scratches, nicks and dings in general, commensurate with age and some use,. Very small repair to the rim(visible silver silder), otherwise in good order. Marks clear.
