Gilbert, William Schwenck, Sir. An autograph letter, dated 17th Jan. 1887, 2pp, 12mo, to an artist Mr [Frank] Hall, advising "I have reserved two stalls for you on the chance of you being able to use them", concluding "The picture is very well hung in the drawing room and has been greatly admired, both as a work of art and as a likeness [the picture was bequeathed by Gilbert to the National Portrait Gallery in 1937 (NPG1911)], together with Gilbert, W.S. - Fifty Bob Ballads, 8vo, red cloth gilt, London 1878 (2)
