A German violin, by Georg Kloz (Klotz), 18th century, the two piece back with medium curl, matching sides, head and neck, the varnish of orange brown colour with areas of dark brown, label inside in script 'Georges Klotz ... Mittenwalt ...', length of back 35.5cm (14.1in.), minor repairs, together with two silver mounted bows, cased

The violin sound post is loose and rattling around inside the violin. There is evidence of old worm damage to the back with some filler to the areas and some patching to the interior in at least five areas travelling up the centre of the two piece back. Wear to the side ribs and an old split to the side at the top left shoulder. Wear consistent with age and use. The peg holes have been wood filled and re-drilled for smaller pegs.
