Two Japanese ivory netsuke, 19th century, the first modelled as a monkey dressed as a priest and holding a mask, engraved two character signature 'Masanori' to a reserved tablet, 4.3cm, the second as a group of figures including Shoki, the demon queller, 2.8cm

The netsuke of a monkey dressed as a musician has a crack to his right leg / foot and a crack to his robes on his right hand side and other fine age cracks, the himatoshi has possibly been added later to his back, the accompanying netsuke of a group of figures including Shoki is very grubby in areas with some wear to the high points in some places otherwise in reasonable condition.
