Oil on original canvas which is showing some undulation, stretcher marks and fine craquelure throughout the darker areas of the paint, has been revarnished relatively recently and varnish is very shiny, one patched repair to a hole to the left of the sitters head which has been retouched to a fairly low standard with the retouching running up to the top left corner, hint of an inscription verso which is now mostly obscured, housed in a fairly recent gilt scroll frame.
