Compare a similar figure of an official in the British Museum, London dated to the 11th century, museum number 1983,0729.2 which has a similar creamy yellow coloured glaze with iron-brown decoration and a canted square base.

Provenance: by family repute formerly in the Arthur Flynn collection, purchased from Bluett's before 1980.
