Estimate £1,000-1,500
From the collection of a Hong Kong Tea Merchant who worked for Jardine Matheson & Co Ltd, before 1940.
Although we have described these as soap boxes, it is possible that they are ink boxes, all of the boxes and covers are of slightly different size, the first box and cover has a splinter chip on the inside rim of the cover with an associated hairline crack and there are a few minute chips on the edge of the inner disc and the edge of the base
Second box and cover has some slight wear to the enamels on the cover in particular the plant appearing from a bottle vase at the top, otherwise good condition
Third box and cover has some vertical scratches to the cover to the left of the lantern otherwise in good condition with no restoration chips or cracks.
