A Japanese bronze and parcel gilt figure of a kneeling archer, signed Yoshimitsu, Meiji period, holding a bow in his left hand, engraved signature to a plaque on the back of his robes, height 37.5cm incl. carved wood stand

The figure is lacking an arrow in his right hand, the string to the bow and there is a slot in his waist sash for a sword which is lacking, there is a slight dent to the edge of his top knot of his hair, and an abrasion / dent to the edge of his right foot next to the first knuckle joint on his small toe, wear to the base, his feet and his right knee consistent with age, the wood stand may not be original and a Chinese cherrywood example which is a reasonable fit and has some age cracks to it, there is a label underneath that says Major A F Charles, otherwise in good condition with no restoration.
