A Victorian papier mache combined jewellery and needlework casket, painted and inlaid with mother of pearl with views of Ashby de la Zouch, Carisbrooke Castle, Knaresborough Castle and Tintern Abbey, fitted with nine mother of pearl silk reels, 17in. height 22in.

some light wear to the painting and gilding throughout the case from typical use. Few small chips, cracks, notably short splits, cracks to extreme moulding on left and right side of lid. One small loss to extreme tip on back of lid. Hinge loos original and intact but has been repaired at at some point where it joins the lid. internal velvet and papering looks original. Comes with 6 reels,1 tape measure and 2 other accessories. Internal gilding in very good order with all mother of pearl handles present. Insides of drawers have same matching papering. top 2 drawers have same matching papering, third drawer down has silk lining, forth drawer down, fitted for jewellery and bottom drawer with writing slope and inkwells. No key for lock. Overall fair to good condition.
