A rare Chinese ivory 'five bats' snuff bottle, 1800-1900, carved in high relief to each side with five bats amid scrolling clouds, 5.4cm, Richards no. 421, matched stopper

The bottle is not particularly well hollowed, there is a hairline crack to the edge of the foot of the bottle which does not extend up into he body, there is a hairline crack across one of the wings of the bats near the shoulder and there are natural faults in the ivory core which shows as a minute hole on each side but doesn't appear to go all the way through, no other chips, cracks or restorations, the stopper doesn't appear to be original and does have a snuff spoon attached.
