Two Japanese plique a jour enamel bowls, early 20th century, each finely worked in silver wire and coloured and shaded enamels with peonies, chrysanthemums and other flowers on a clear frosted ground, wood stands, diameter 11cm, 9.4cm

The smaller of the two bowls is heavily suffused with bubbles to the clear ground and there are no apparent cracks or chips, the silver rim is tarnished with some slight white silver polish residue beneath the rim,
The larger bowl again is heavily suffused with bubbles and has a few hairline cracks to a substantial section on one side and across the base which are only visible when held up to a strong light.
