Estimate £300-500
Width 4ft 6in.
Depth 2ft 9.5in.
Height 2ft 6in.
Green skiver is a later replacement quite scuffed and worn and starting to peel away in various areas, desk itself also looks rather distressed, basically with a very dark brown oak colour but quite a lot of rubbing over the years exposing unstained timber, equally a fair amount of wear to the front of the desk with drawer fronts, the aperture around the kneehole and the side locking bars all with degrees of rubbing, flowerhead paterae at the top of the fluted columns and side locking bars look to be original are held in place with a flat head screw, handles feel rather tinny and are quite possibly later replacement, they are fixed with screws going through the front of the plate with internally no holes showing, key is present for the side locking bars, bottom right drawer has a fairly large chip missing from the drawer front, which should be visible on the photographs online, otherwise typical scuffing around the plinth. Right hand side is divided into two panels, one of the panels has a vertical split running through it where the panel has been joined. Stamped to the top drawer with Gillow along with a reference number 1151, overall an honest piece in need of some cosmetic restoration.
