A Chinese export gilt decorated black lacquer sewing box, containing ivory accessories, mid 19th century, the box of canted rectangular form decorated with dragons amid pavilions to the cover and mythical beasts in landscapes to the sides, on four lion paw feet, the interior decorated with birds including a phoenix amid pavilions, the compartments with 'dragon' covers containing various ivory sewing clamps, thread dispensers etc., 39cm.
