A late 19th century child’s concert harp by Haarnack & Sons, No.5 Charlotte Street, Fitzroy Square, London, gilt wood body, with maker’s name engraved on the brass tuning board, and with seven pedals, raised on lion’s claw feet, 88cm high, previously owned by Duncan Grant or Angelica Garnett (nee Bell), and kept at Charleston Farmhouse, East Sussex sold with tuning hammer and documents detailing the restoration by Michael Parfett and others,
Provenance; bought by the vendor in 1983 during a sale of items from Charleston Farmhouse, and featured in a photograph of the interior of Charleston published in the book; ‘Colour in Decoration, by Annie Sloan & Kate Gwynn, pub. Frances Lincoln, 1990, sold together with a later edition of the volume

Condition:
The harp is generally in very good playable condition. It appears to generally hold its tuning at 415hz, however we have not tested any higher pitch on the frame. It is sold with the history of it’s sympathetic restoration. There is some minor age related movement apparent in the joints and some rubbing mainly to the edges, etc. Slight cracking to the surface finish on the soundboard, and other minor wear. Otherwise it is in generally very good condition. The pedal action is fully working.
