A pair of Chinese blue and white 'dragon’ saucer dishes, Guangxu mark and of the period (1875-1908), each finely painted with a scaly five claw confronting dragon amid flames curled around a central flaming jewel, the border with rice grain pattern and a band of bats and clouds, the underside with four emblems belonging to the eight immortals, six character mark to base within a double circle, diameter 18.5cm

Provenance - the owner’s grandfather was a steam paddle boat operator on the Yangtze River, in the early 20th century.

One dish with a hairline crack at the 1 o’clock position, otherwise, Typical minor glaze imperfections, in good condition with no chips, cracks or restoration detected.
