An American Kentucky 1865 (Civil War) block strip, ‘postage stamp’ hand quilted bedcover. Made from a large selection of highly fashionable madder dyed printed cottons of the day, as large concentric diamond shaped stripes. Backed with an ornate striped ticking style cotton. 224cm x 196cm. Condition - the colours and cottons are strong with no fading, there is some light discolouring on the back. The quilt is overall in good condition and appears to have been hardly used or washed.
