Condition:
Oil on canvas relined many years ago, canvas remains tight, paint clean but with a fine craquelure running throughout that looks like it is just starting to lift in the dark brown arched background, housed in a 19th century carved wood frame, indistinct label on the stretcher verso. Looks to be at heart a period painting, 18th century of earlier but with numerous later overpaint and embellishments.
