Lot 106 , A Chinese blue and white ovoid vase and associated cover, Transitional, Shunzhi period (1644-1661)
A Chinese blue and white ovoid vase and associated cover, Transitional, Shunzhi period (1644-1661), painted with birds in-flight and dense foliage and lotus, unglazed base, jar 30cm high, some faults, together with an associated domed cover
£600-800
Condition:
The cover is associated and does not fit well and has a splinter chips on the edge but is of a similar period. The vase has a large section of the rim broken out and messily reglued with some associated hairline cracks running down the shoulder and back up and across to the rim. Further around there is an additional hairline crack extending to the left and downward to the shoulder. The underglaze blue decoration is a little blurry in places, otherwise in reasonable condition.
