Two mid 19th century samplers worked by Elizabeth White, one dated 1842 aged 8 years, the other 1844 aged 11 years, both worked with a country scene of a house, birds, dogs and trees, the earlier sampler with a top panel of the alphabet and numbers and after a prayer, the later with a ‘Love to Parents’ a dated verse, 1844 sampler 41.5cm high x 33cm wide. 1842 sampler 43cm high x 38.5cm wide. Condition - ‘Love to Parents’, has various patches of moth holes, by the title, the middle section of the sampler edges and corners, the earlier sampler has no moth holes but the colours have faded slightly.
