A Chinese blue and white 'Squirrel and vine' melon-shaped jar, Wanli period (1573-1619), painted with four squirrels amongst fruiting vines, between bands of stiff leaves on the shoulder and lower body, the short neck is decorated with a classical scroll band, 13.5cm high

Typical minor glaze and manufacturing imperfections., Typical small glaze losses around the rim, no evidence of restoration or chip losses. There is a small stained star crack to the interior which is not visible on the exterior. Some scratching to the glaze consistent with age and use.
