Condition:
Attribution of the sitters is by family repute. He - relined many years ago, canvas now a little saggy, paint rather dirty with bitumous bubbling in the darker areas, original gilt gesso frame now rather tatty, label verso with inscription Ramsay c.1750? She - equally relined and in similar condition but with a slight outward bulge at the hairline and signs of retouching of two small holes, one to the upper left of her head, the other to her right Both housed in matching frames
