A Burmese gilt bronze seated figure of Jambupati Buddha on a throne, Shan, 17th-18th century, in bhumisparsa mudra, wearing the robes and crown of a monarch, ornate scrollwork headdress, 26cm high, with later paste and mirror inset giltwood stand, total height 35.5 cm

Provenance: acquired on travels to India and South Asia in 1975, thence by family descent. losses to headdress

Condition:
Typical minor casting imperfections, remnants of original gilding and red lacquer to the base, losses to the headdress and scroll work emanating from the headdress. There is a loss to the back of the cast plinth of the base. The accompanying gilt wood stand has a few small losses to the scroll work decoration and the back panel is loose from the base and would benefit from the reinstatement of an upright to the back.
