Condition:
Oil on board in good condition, might possibly benefit from a light clean, a little light, but stable, craquelure in the darker areas and a slight outward bulge to the board. Looks to be the original gilt gesso frame with title plaque. Artist label verso giving the title ‘Under the cliffs near Whitby, E.Ellis 1870’. Said to be signed and dated lower right but hard to spot.
