Condition:
Provenance; Roland and his son Bernard lived in St Margarets near Twickenham, the sketch books amongst other items were given to a friend of Bernards before he passed away in 2012. Our vendor purchased them from the friend. One large album dated 1957 titled Bienne, 18 x 25cm, mostly with market scenes and figure studies, a few additional street scenes The large album entitled Schaffhausen, 20 x 22.5cm, mostly street scenes a further 15 smaller sketch books, approximately 12.5 x 17cm entitled Thun 1963, Rapperswil 1957, Switzerland 1960, Bienne 1957, Zug 1963, Wallingford, Switzerland and Paris 1957, Bale and Schaffhausen 1958, Sion 1972, Richmond Bruges Luxembourg Ostend 1960, Sion 1972 number 2, Chur Rorschach Luxembourg 1960, Bienne 1957, Normandy and Brittany 1969, Switzerland and Richmond 1958, Bath and Richmond 1968. Condition of the sketches inside is all good apart for some very slight discolouration around the extreme edges. Approx. 20-30 pages per sketchbook. Most pages drawn/painted, some on both sides.
