A large Chinese pale celadon jade ‘magnolia’ cup, 17th/18th century carved in high relief and openwork with branches in leaves around a central magnolia flower, the stone weight of good evening tone with occasional white inclusions and pale russet veining,

Provenance- from the collection of the vendor’s late father who collected Chinese works of art in Hong Kong from 1950 to the 1970s. He lived in Shanghai from 1947-48 and became a successful businessman living and working in Hong Kong from 1949 until his death in 1994. 17.5cm high excluding wood stand
