A Chinese pale celadon jade mounted hand mirror, the jade 18th/19th century,
the back of the mirror inset with a jade plaque (probably removed from a ruyi sceptre) carved in low relief with quail, millet and a bird, the handle formed from a jade ‘dragon’ belt hook, Provenance - Mr W G Pullen,

Condition:
The large jade panel on the back of the mirror appears to be in good condition with some natural inclusions to the stone, the edge is mounted so has not been examined for damage. The belt hook handle is pinned at the top of the Dragons head so has probably been drilled from each side but the stone is of good even tone with some occasional pale inclusions. The mirror has been polished removing the silverplating in places and leaving some white residue to the jade handle, otherwise in good condition. Provenance - Mr W G Pullen (d.1994), former Deputy Chairman of Standard and Chartered Banking Group Ltd. and of the Asian section of the British National Export Council. His banking career spanned 1925 to 1974 in which he spent much time in Hong Kong and Malaysia.
