New Zealand Natural History - Moa tracheal rings and bones, collected before 1917, each mounted with thread on card, the largest inscribed '1. At bottom - Tracheal bones of Moa from cave, Hangaroa river. N. Waikaremoana lake found with perfect skeletons and val. bones' stamped 'No. 101. COLLECTION GEO. E. MASON' card 13.5cm wide, the second card inscribed 'Tracheal rings of Dinornis [Giant Moa] Found in Peat bog, Enfield near Oamaru, Otago N.Z.' the reverse with card of Harry A. de Lautour.

Provenance - T. Gerrard & Co Ltd, Pentonville Road, preparators, technicians and modellers of London were involved, amongst other things, in biology, osteology and entomology.
Lieutenant-Colonel Harry Archibald de Lautour (1849-1917) was Otago & Southland Provincial Districts Medical Staff Officer and Brigade Surgeon. He passed away on 22 June 1917 in Invercargill, Southland, New Zealand.
