A late Victorian yellow and white metal, sapphire and rose cut diamond set scrolling serpent brooch, 32mm, gross 4.5 grams. Condition: Serpent head appears to be hinged, but the head does not move, possible old repair by the hinge?? Sapphire is 5.3mm in length and has a few nibbles and chips. Half of one of the rose cuts is now missing and one other smaller stone is chipped. A few minor surface scratches to the metal in general and the setting is showing signs of wear, commensurate with age. Metal unmarked, colour quite yellow, possibly 15ct, but unsure??
