Oil on canvas, re-lined within the past 10 to 20 years or so. Paint showing some signs of patchy discoloured varnish along with a rather shiny varnish elsewhere. It looks as if the original canvas was at one time rolled up as there are a number of horizontal creases where paint has been lost running throughout the work, otherwise other small dents and losses throughout. Possibly a signature, certainly an inscription lower left inscribed IONAE....ROSSO Housed in an ornate gilt scroll frame, which is now drying out and flaking.
