The 1914-15 star in his medal group shows that he was initially enrolled in the 1st Scottish Horse regiment.


The etched blade has some occasional light surface scratches, the hand guard would benefit form a clean and has some minor rusting to the edges. The leather on the outer scabbard is also generally worn and the end of the leather is bent and split showing the wooden casing underneath
