William Underwood of London. A George III walnut cased eight day chiming longcase clock, the 12 inch arched brass dial with silvered chapter ring, subsidiary seconds, date aperture, strike silent and quarters / no quarters, W.1ft 8in. H.8ft 6in.

Overall case looks to have been restored approximately 20 years ago or so, brass finials look to be associated, the square plinth that the two to left and right stand on have both been heavily glued and restuck, overall top and hood of the case looks like it has seen some reconstruction, working key present for hood door, dial in good clean restored condition, strike / not strike and quarters / no quarters, both look rather squeezed into the dial so the claren is thought to be a later addition, movement in good clean order, looks to have been regularly overhauled but not tested for timekeeping, trunk door with working key, label inside for P.A. Oxley Antique Clocks of Wiltshire, comes with brass cased lead pendulum, lacking its steel ribbon, and three brass cased weights, overall a good looking clock still in a fine state of repair, minor faults can be noted such as small splits in veneers etc but the colour is good and rich, has seen some later adaptation so perhaps not one for the purist. This is an eight bell quarter striking clock.
