A late 19th century Swiss marquetry inlaid rosewood eight air musical box, with 11 inch cylinder, drum and five bells, song sheet titled Tambour Timbres en Vue, 21in.
Estimate £800-1,200
The box is in good working order althought it fails to stop, there are no missing teeth, the drum is working just but with a rather weak strength of hit, and the bells are good, the case is stained on the top and possibly slightly bowed, could benefit from a repolish, the marquetry panels are good, the feet are a little worn. Internally the ebony colour is good with stringing intact, one short split running behind the glazed door another scratch mark running vertically near the right hinge.
Play list coming away at one corner. Cylinder rather discoloured, scattered dirt and oxidisation marks to the mechanism.
