Provenance:
The Dennis G. Rice collection of fine Rockingham porcelain

As well as being an avid collector of Rockingham ornamental porcelain and animal figures, Dr. Dennis G. Rice was an academic and wrote two key reference works on the subject – Rockingham Ornamental Porcelain (1965) and the Illustrated Guide to Rockingham Pottery & Porcelain (1971).
A number of the pieces illustrated in the books are offered below. The Rockingham animals figures in the collection are also published in Dennis G. Rice's companion books Dogs & Cats in English Porcelain and English Porcelain Animals of the 19th Century.

There is fine crazing to the glaze all over. Slight wear to the gilding on the handle. There are typical losses to the applied flowers and leaves and three feint hailrline cracks to the rim of the basket. The mark underneath is a little rubbed, otherwise no restoration detected.
