Estimate £700-1,000
Case of a mid to dark brown even finish, rubbed from polishing over the years down to the bare wood at the raised extremities, ormolu mounts showing wear and wherever raised the original gilding has been rubbed down to the bare metal, front door does not sit perfectly flush with the sides of the case sticking out approx. 1mm all round, no key to the door which is unlocked, hinges possibly replaced and definately missing 4 screws, fabric lining to the top two grilles is worn and holed, dial looks to be in honest condition untouched for many years if at all, some rubbing around the top of the chapter ring from 11 to 2 o'clock, makers name plaque shows rubbing and oxidisation, moonphase again with some wear to the paint and silvering, back door has a number of fine splits running vertically through it and lacks the glass, lock is missing, movement looks to have seen some adaptions with conversion from verge to anchor, adjustments to the pendulum and probably also to the bells, when pulled the repeat cord rings the alarm bell continuously, the pendulum is probably associated and engraved on one side Jam Mulder Den Haag. Movement looks complete but not tested for timekeeping, the way it is fitted into the case makes it looks like it associated to the case.
